With the invention of the internet and all the new avenues for bands to release their own music alot of newer bands are optioning for the Do It Yourself scheme, because that's exactly what it is "A Scheme". Sure you can pay a fee and maybe your album will show up on Itunes but that doesn't mean you are going to be able to actually distribute your release! Promises by internet companies to "Get your album on Itunes" sounds great in theory but that doesn't mean it's going to get promoted or distributed by all the internet outlets. Physical CD sales are just as important as downloads and many artists are finding out that doing it yourself isn't all it's cracked up to be. The other thing is once you put that album out and it's on the web via Itunes etc... you have actually just hurt your chances of being signed to a label.. think about it, why would a label want to invest tons of money into issuing an album for you if it's already out there for sale? Think before you act, sure it's cool to call up your buddies and say "hey man I'm on Itunes" but wouldn't it be a heck of a lot better to tell your buddies you sold 10,000 records in "Insert Favorite Country Here". WCR is a real 24/7 record label, we are real hard working individuals who live and breath MUSIC of all kinds. We don't do this as a part time, basement set up, or vanity type label. We are doing this because we love music and after years of being both musicians and working behind the scenes we think we can provide an exceptional service. Honesty, Intergrity and Knowledge go hand in hand to make this label grow. BELOW IS SOME INFORMATION FOR SUBMITTING A PRESS KIT/DEMO TO W.C.R. 1. Electronic submission of press kits and demos is fine but please don't just email us a link to your myspace or reverbnation. Send us something we can download and listen to for a few days while working, driving etc... Please include a bio, photo, discography with your demo 2. We prefer the old fashioned way of you sending us a physical press kit, so if you wanna take just a little initiative and send that in you can be rest assured you will get listened to first! Please include a bio, photo, discography with your demo 3. Be professional. If you want us to take you seriously than respond to our emails in a normal amount of time. Nothing scares a company more than the idea of working with an artist who takes a week to respond to the simplest questions. Don't spam us and every other record label out there with your press kit/links. It's best if you contact the labels you actually wanna work with, everyone here will treat your demo/links with respect and spend time listening and evaluating them so if you aren't seriously interested in working with us, please don't waste our time and resources. 4. Please be patient, we do recieve a lot of demos and there are only so many hours in the day we can listen to them. There is also more than one person who will review the material, so no news is not always bad news. We try to always respond to everyone, if you don't hear anything after a month feel free to contact us.
